Short sketch since high school
After high school, I drove in a MG convertible to California with Mike Smith. Ended up in Santa Barbara, CA. Mike went home, I moved to Ventura, Camarillo and Oxnard. Did a variety of things, mostly played in the hills and at the beach. Got into mountain biking, surfing, sailing, rock climbing and hotsprings. Worked for Patagonia. Moved back to MD in 87, lived in Paseda, Glen Burnie and College Park. Went to school at College Park. Studied Engineering, Architecture, and studio art. Got degree in art. Worked at the Price Club during school years as an inventory auditor. Began making hand drums and drove to CA again in search of community, in 92. The VW van broke down in Santa Barbara. Found old friends met new ones, including a woman who I lived on her wooden yacht with and almost sailed to Hawaii with, Ended up staying in Santa Barbara mostly for the drumming and dancing sub-culture there, Went to massage school, met my wife Stephanie. Spent a summer in a Zen Buddhist monastery called Tasahara. We got pregnant and I set off again searching for community. After 10,000 miles, a few months and some great process work. We ended up in Asheville NC at Earthaven Eco-village, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Ended up living in the town of Asheville. Our first baby died at birth with a congenital heart defect. His heart was too big. Opened up a Yoga Center, offering classes, workshops, teacher training and the like. Opened a massage school. Had our son, Samson Oak Forrest. A beautiful home birth, I "caught" him. I went to grad school for social work. Dropped out after we had our son, opened the massage school and began to build our neighborhood at Earthaven. Closed the massage school. After years of doing web design, and graphic design work for our businesses and community, I opened my own web site design business, in 99'. I've been musically involved in several projects/circles in town, making and playing a variety of instruments, mostly didgeridoo, mbira, marimba, drums (djembes, djuns, dun duns, bells and such) and singing. We had Duncan Tyler Secouya on June 10th, 2001. Closed Web and graphic Design business, focused on Yoga Center and family. Baught our second house, built in 1880's, just north of down town Asheville, Been fixing it up, creating gardens. Had Tobe Coyote Willow at home on May 6, 2004. I caught him, everything was perfect. Life is no longer as I knew it before a wife and kids. My wife and I work out of the home mostly; we split our time with our sons and our endeavors. Life is good.
